Specialist from CE Thermal Power plant “Nikola Tesla” Obrenovac are this years winners of recognition given by Society of Thermal Engineers of Serbia for technical improvement of boiler at Unit B1 in Thermal Power plant “Nikola Tesla” B. This formal tribune was held on February, 6th at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the presence of representatives from “Electric Power Industry from Serbia”, well-established domestic companies, scientific institutes and faculties.

Receiving this prestigious recognition, Mr Čedomir Ponoćko, general manager at TPP NT, emphasized the benefits from this projects, with which implementation (made during overhaul on the Unit B1 in 2012) additional, so called green megawatts have been gained.

- Every megawatt is huge gain, and with this we have increase from 620 MW to 650 MW, it means additional 30 megawatts. When these megawatts transform into produced kilowatt hours, it is very much. Since this idea was very difficult to realise without participation of foreign specialists, we cooperated with colleagues from Germany and Poland, specified Mr Ponoćko.

In his address to attendances, executive manager for production at EPIS, Mr Dragan Jovanović announced that system “Electric Power Industry of Serbia” is at the beginning serious structural changes and adaptation to new contemporary conditions of operation – from going out to the market to creating conditions to be competitive with all our products.

- This recognition which was given to TPP NT encourages us that this process, which started a few years ago, continues very efficiently and that we succeed to maintain our units in good condition, which one of them isn’t younger than 25 years, and even to improve significantly economical parameters of their production. This is the base for further upgrade, for increase operation profitability and to be competitive within European conditions. Production in EPIS system still has to stay with obligation to fulfill system requirements, in regard to natural production, but also in technical sense to maintain high level which provide us competitiveness. What TPP NT does is proof that we are on the right track.

Dr Branko Kovačević, supervisory board president of “Electric Power Industry of Serbia” congratulating to all awarded also emphasized the satisfaction that bound between profession and science once again gave high results.

- It is shown that here can be made some innovative solutions as well and that those solutions could be implemented in practice and they can have return effect on economy. It is also shown that we can make consortium in domestic industry which can serve huge system as TPP NT is. It seems that this is the only right way for opening new workplaces and through growing the economy, financial problems are being solved, Dr Kovačević said.
