Today, on March, 7th is the day when TPP NT formally has celebrated the company day, when was 45 years ago the first unit (one of the future six units at the TPP NT A) with the power of 210 MW synchronised on the electric power grid of Serbia. At this celebration of four and a half decades long period in successful operation of the largest producer of electrical power in the Balkans there were representatives from EPS, a great number of domestic and foreign business partners, scientific institutions, church municipality of Obrenovac, representatives of local government and Obrenovac’s public companies and medias.

- 45 years ago, when industrial development started in our country, the main power of that economic growth was electric power industry, together with TPP NT as its important part, said Mr Prof Dr Branko Kovačević, Supervisory Board president of PE “Electric Power Industry of Serbia”. – Today we are again, as we were 45 years ago, in a phase of new industrial development and economic recovery where the main factor is again electric power industry and TPP NT as its significant part.

He said that was our biggest “weapon” by which we entered in following liberalised market with great competence.

- The policy at EU is not in favour to producers of electric power which use fossil fuels, primarily lignite. The policy of EPS, and I may say with great responsibility that it is also the policy of Serbian Government, to protect domestic thermo energetic and mine sector. We haven’t got any other recourses, lignite is our one of the largest recourses which we should use, said Mr Aleksandar Obradović and added that everybody were dedicated in that field, from Supervisory Board, Board of Executive Directors to Ministry Department. He expressed gratitude to hosts at successfully finished revitalisation at the Unit A3 which operated steady and this guarantee stability that planned changes within EPS would be finished successfully.

He also added that in the process of industrial development, in which we enter with significant changes in management system and system of dealing with business results, from CE TPP NT is also expected to reach the highest results in production section.

Reconstruction at TPP “Morava” for which the necessary equipment has been already bought, works at the Unit A2, as well as building the facility for desulphurisation which has been delayed must be realised as soon as possible. We also bought generator and block transformer for the Unit B2, and also we bought block transformer for the Unit A3 which are going to be replaced during this year, said Mr Čedomir Ponoćko, congratulating to all employees on the company’s anniversary.
