Initiating driving force at Pomoravlje District

Appropriate ceremony was held in Svilajnac yesterday on the occasion of 45 years of TPP “Morava” operation, where attendance were representatives from PE “Electric Power System of Serbia”, CE TPP NT, numerous partner firms and economic and public life at Pomoravlje District.

We remind you that, the smallest production facility at TPP NT was registered into register at that time country on March, 21^st ancient 1970, whereby it officially started production. Its only unit (with installed power of 125 MW) was synchronised at electric power grid on January, 31^st 1969.

From start up in operation till nowadays, TPP “Morava” produced more than 21 million MWh of electric power, realised around 220 thousand hours in operation and spent 24.5 million tons of coal, mainly produced in local mines for underground coal exploitation. In accordance with demands and proportional to EPS needs, it provided significant contribution to stability of electric power system and continuous supply of customers with electric power. It has been the main initiator of economic development in Svilajnac and nearby municipalities for almost 5 decades. Even today, TPPM is an example of domestic and society responsible operation, although circumstances in Serbian economy are extremely complex.

-  This days we are talking about the EPS reconstruction a lot, and it has been done properly because, from what we do today, with reform of electric power system depends how Serbia is going to look like in the future. And there is not domestic economy if there are not investments into own develop and young staff, said during his speech to all participants, the president of Supervisory Board at PE “Electric Power System of Serbia” PhD Branko Kovačević.

On behalf of CE TPP NT in which system operates TPP “Morava”, Mr Milan Petković, Deputy Manager at CE TPP NT congratulated.

- During this year, in cooperation with boards of managers at PE EPS, capital overhaul has been expected to be done at the unit, worth over 20 million €, and this will extend operating life to our “Morava” for following 10 years and I hope in full power. However, managers from TPP “Morava” do not think just about their employees, but about workers at mines for underground coal exploitation and citizens at Svilajnac as well. The most important ecological project worth five million € has been provided from EU donation for electrostatic precipitator building, announced Mr Petković.

Saying thanks to all guests and congratulating the jubilee to all employees, Ms Marija Stevanović, general manager at TPP “Morava” had just one message:

- For the sake of our 300 employees and for 4000 employees at PE for underground coal exploitation since we buy more than 50 percent of their production, and in the end for the sake of Serbia, our motherland, we have to continue to work for long time. Of course, we should take profitability into account, nowadays; this is new, very important task of PE EPS. But, on the other hand, we have to take care about our citizens as well. During floods happened last year, TPP “Morava” showed how it could help citizens in emergency and how one public enterprise could be reliable support to local government and to the whole region.

On the occasion of the jubilee at TPP “Morava”, special acknowledgements were handed to business partners and friends.
