Integrated counseling with international participation in the organization of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce devoted to a variety of environmental topics was finished yesterday in Subotica.

Within this event 3rd simposium of „Flue Gas Desulphurization“, 6th councelling „Landfills of ash, slag and waste at thermal power plants and mines“ and 42nd counseling „Air protection 2014“ were held. During the two-day counseling there were 24 research papers presented  in which the current problems of introducing new technologies in the energy sector, a new system for the control of flue gas in power plants, remediation and recultivation of ash, slag and waste, as well as the use of coal combustion products and the adoption of new regulations and standards, harmonized with EU regulations were considered.

Special attention was paid to the consequences of air pollution, air monitoring, testing of ambient air quality, as well as measures to protect air under the new legislation. Symposium was attended by representatives of international companies, manufacturers of equipment for flue gas desulphurization, consulting engineering firms from Japan, Hungary, the EU and the Republic of Srpska, representatives of scientific institutions in Serbia, the Agency for Environmental Protection, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, as well as numerous representatives from the local business sector, including a number of experts from TENT Obrenovac.

Welcoming all, Ljiljana Tanasijević, president of the Organizing Committee of the counseling, announced initiatives that will be sent to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Serbia at the very opening. The first initiative will ask the authorities to adopt Regulation on the use of fly ash for commercial purposes, i.e. in building and road construction, and the second will ask for amendment to the Regulation on waste disposal at landfills. It will be asked not to place ash and slag are in the same category as municipal waste landfills and thus be exempt from this Regulation because, as she said, ash and slag are the byproduct of thermal power systems.

For experts in CE TENT who are directly involved in the implementation of technologies that were the topics of this conference as well as the people in charge of environmental protection, this is a good opportunity for the exchange of information, knowledge and sharing the experiences of other people in the fields that marked this counseling. All the more, as a reminder, TENT has been paying great attention to improving the level of protection of the environment for years and investing significant funds and also is preparing for the implementation of two large environmental projects. The implementation of FGD project at TENT A has started, and also preparations for the introduction of new thick slurry transport are underway. In this regard it was important to learn from others, specifically from TPP "Ugljevik" from the Republic of Srpska, who shared their experience in FGD plant implementation through several papers. The Mining Institute in Belgrade and Energoprojekt-Entel, Belgrade, had an interesting paper entitled "Automation and control of hydraulic transport and disposal of gypsum suspension to landfill at TPP Nikola Tesla B". The aim of this study was to demonstrate that, on the basis of the adopted technological processes of transport and suspension of gypsum from FGD plant to storage area, foreseen on an existing landfill TENT B, defined management and control of processes in accordance with the possible modes of operation of the plant.

Vojin Nestorović, Director of Corporate Affairs at CE TENT gave an evaluation of the beginning of the conference after the end of plenary presentations.

So far, desulphurization has been mostly discussed, as well as quotas, emission limits and laws that limit emissions, and on the basis of previous presentations of the participants it can be concluded that environmental protection is a very important segment for further development of the society and a better life for people but it requires a large financial investment. On the other hand, it must be borne in mind that any reduction of pollutant emissions and their reduction to European norms has its price, which is reflected in the increase in the price of the end product, and it's electricity, said Vojin Nestorović.

For all interested parties the organizer organized a visit to the factory "SIEMENS" which produces wind turbines for the international market. Before visiting the facility the host quickly briefed the visitors on the company, which, as noted, covers an area of 30,000 square meters. From 2003 to date more than 15,000 wind turbines have been produced, each fourth windmill in Europe runs the unit that is made in Subotica. In addition to the factory, 16 years ago the company "SIEMENS" in Belgrade was founded, and both employ a total of 1,150 people.
