From innovations to problem solving

Within the session devoted to exploitation problems of power plants, on the third day of the International Conference "Power Plants 2014", several studies were presented, among which four made by expert teams from CE TENT. Paper named „Modernization and automation of a system for monitoring and control of lines for demineralization in water treatment plant on TENT B“, was presented by Momčilo Stakić, in the name of a team of authors consisting of Irena Vuković and Ilija Radovanović. He said that this project was done in several stages, and that modernized line for demineralization in TENT B is one of the most modern in the region. Upon completion of this project, many benefits were achieved, i.e., more reliable and safer supply of demi-water, which is an important raw material in technological process of electricity production, also, minimal number of failures of pumps, reinforcement, etc… was accomplished, maintenance of quality of demi water was made possible in all seasons (especially during drought periods) and also, its higher production per working cycle was enabled with using less chemicals, which, in addition to a more reliable supply of deionized water, provides safer operation of unit facilities.

„ Application of patent solution for purification of sealing steam condensate in TENT B " was prepared by a group of engineers working in this branch of CE TENT. Zoran Stojanović in the name of engineering team consisting of Nemanja Banjalić, Ivan Gajić and Miloš Bajić spoke about Application of solution that effectively removes admixtures of oil and other impurities, and which prevents the loss of condensate, and thus eliminates the possibility of jeopardizing unit operation. Normally, this solution can also be applied in other industrial plants, but with taking into account the their specific characteristics.

Prof. dr. Vladimir Stevanović, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade, who was also the chairman of this session, presented the Paper showing wet steam measurement results by thermodynamic method, at TENT A-6. During presentation of this paper, signed by Jelena Popović and Milorad Jovanović, Stevanović stressed that a new device was developed, patented, which gives satisfactory measurement results.

In its study, done together with Dragoslav Đorović, Miroljub Kovačević presented Vibrometar-VM1, virtual instrument designed for measuring of vibrations of large steam turbine units. This device, designed in TENT, is installed next to the unit TENT A-6 and is applied for almost two years, and besides measuring vibrations of bearings and rotor, it is also used for the analysis of measured data, recording of digital signals into a file and their detailed processing.

Žarko Janda, member of the team consisting of a group of authors (Spasoje Mirić, Jasna Dragosavac, Dušan Arnautović, Bojan Radojičić, Jelena Pavlović)spoke about „Identification of transfer functions of synchronous generator and excitation system for the purpose of group excitation control and reactive power“.

In the afternoon session of the international conference "Power Plants 2014", as part of invited lectures, Marija Stevanovic, director of TPP "Morava", presented the paper "Public-private partnerships and infrastructure facilities in Serbia," in made in cooperation with prof. dr. Silvana Ilic, Faculty for Management in Zajecar. By pointing out that implementations of major infrastructure projects in the past were mainly tied to the state, she recalled that three years ago the Law on public-private partnership was passed, thus giving us an instrument which, as she said, we need to be aware of and should know how to use.

- Given the shortage and budgetary constraints of Serbian public sector, attracting foreign capital through the public-private partnership model may significantly improve the availability, quality, innovation and cost of public services, but also have effect on construction of infrastructure of our country, said Marija Stevanovic.

Upon completion of official part of the conference, a visit was organized to HPP "Kokin Brod" at Uvac, for interested participants.
