The Unit B2 at TPP NT B broke the record in length of continuous operation

On Tuesday, 27th of January, 2015 at 05:52 hours at TPP NT B in Ušće, the record in continuous operation of the Unit B2 was broken. The record was old for almost seventeen and half years.The Unit B2 has been, after finished repairing works performed last year, synchronised on the grid in September, 11th 2014, and by its continuous operation exceeded, till now, the best result which was 137 days and almost 12 hours, i.e. around 3300 hours of continuous operation, and it was achieved during period of August, 7th till December, 22nd 1997. With this breaking the record it is achieved one of the best results for this facility, with the power of 620 MW, which participates with more than 10 percent in total annual production of electrical power in Serbia.

To remind, the Unit B2 was synchronised on the grid in November 28th 1985 for the first time, and this year it will celebrate 30 years of successful operation.

- When something in its thirties accomplishes this kind of result, than this is clear indication of its reliability, but it is also indication of one continuous and quality contribution of all workers who have worked at this facility during last three decades. It is not important just which quantity of electrical power one unit can produce, but it is also important its stability, which, actually, provides longer operation in continuity, said Mr Goran Lukić, manager of TPP NT B. He emphasised that this success is also earned with quality executed repairing works performed last year. After breaking the record, manager Lukić said that it is expected that the Unit B2 will be in continuous operation till May 2015, when it is planned to perform the overhaul in length of one month and at the same time, this would be the best result in continuous operation of any Units achieved in TPP NT history. According to Mr Lukić, this Unit also was in continuous operation during last years floods happened in May in Obrenovac municipality which gave significant contribution in maintenance the stability of domestic electric power system.
