On Wednesday, February 4th, 2015 at 21.27 hours trial synchronisation of the Unit A3 on the grid has been done. With this synchronisation, one huge overhaul has been finished which started on July, 1st 2014.

After more than seven months (218 days to be precise) of all comprehensive works on modernisation performed at this Unit, where two third of equipment were changed, the Unit A3 came out from this overhaul with additional 23 megawatts, actually from 305 MW to 328.4 MW. With this revitalisation, production life of this Unit has been expanded, reliability in operation and energetic efficiency have been increased.

According to Mr Savo Bezmarević, chief engineer in production department at TPP NT A and leader of commissioning team, at this Unit the new turbine with increased efficiency and increased power has been installed, and it is also predicted to work in heating system so in the future it could heat Obrenovac. He added that during revitalisation performed at this Unit, corset generator was replaced, new version of Siemens control system was implemented, T-3000, and 800 tones of pipes was replaced at boiler pipeline system and with this replacement it is secured its reliable operation in future period.

- In next two months, optimisation of all new installed systems is going to be done and in the end, it is predicted to do guarantee tests. After that, we expect of the Unit to operate very reliably and this is also predicted by the project, said Mr Savo Bezmarević.

During this revitalisation performed at Unit A3, there are also implemented two ecological projects and with them conditions for reducing negative influences at environment during Unit operation are made. With reconstruction of electrostatic precipitators and change of NOx coil burners at boiler facility, emission of powder particles will be decreased below 50 mg/m3 and emission of nitrous oxides will be decreased below 200 mg/m3, which is in accordance with European norms. This is the third Unit at TPP NT A to which power is increased after revitalisation. Just to remind, the Unit A3 was shut down on June, 6th 2014 at 07.17 hours and it remained out of operation. Works on revitalisation of this Unit started on July, 1st 2014. In realisation of this project, worth around 80 million €, over 30 domestic and foreign companies participated.
