Energy efficiency is the biggest resource

Developing challenges at PE “Electric Power System of Serbia” and at electro energy sector in conditions of political and economy restrictions dictated by contemporary Euro-Asian surroundings and programming tasks the Serbian Government and EU set PE EPS to fulfil and they regard to corporatisation, shareholding, deregulation of electric power market, as well as rising of economy and energy efficiency of electric power system. This is one of the key themes at this year 31st International Conference “Energy 2015”. When one positive structural analyse of energy sector has been carried out, energy efficiency represents the biggest resource in Serbia and field for investing more resources and efforts so its at the moment low level would improve, said Mr PhD Nikola Rajaković, president of the Association of Serbian Energy.

About this topic was talked in the article “Analyse of potentials of energy efficiency increase on steam boilers 300 660 MW at units at PE TPP NT by author Mr Đorđi Biljanovski, which was presented on the second day during conference. Stating that steam boilers in thermal power plants are the most subject to drop of efficiency level during exploitation which directly causes drop of energy efficiency of the whole unit, Mr Biljanovski specified that changes of coal quality, increase of temperature flue gases, lost in solid and unburned materials, fake cold air and contaminating of heating surfaces are the most affected parameters which bring to change of boiler efficiency. He emphasised that increase of energy efficiency of large boilers at PE TPP NT was based on analysis and optimisation of the most affected parameters. According to him, that’s the reason why method and frequency of conducting,

i.e. valuating of so called “critical” parameters, as well as establishing their reference values are necessary establish by appropriate project report for each steam unit due to their specifics which occur during exploitation.

He added that for following “critical” parameters, their evaluation and undertaking necessary measures, appropriate organisation in power plant is necessary, trained professional staff, equipment, detailed operating manuals, i.e. procedures as well as occasional assistant of institutions which are not a part of CE EPS.

After presentation of this article, representatives of the conference and a few participants publicly stated praise and acknowledgement to PE TPP NT for effort and persistence which have been invested in previous period on increasing of energy efficiency of their facilities.

All managers at TPP NT and all of their colleagues, from the beginning of the power plant operation till today, have got one healthy relation for saving scientific research capacity and solving own professional and technical problems thanks to successful and continuous cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering where the most number of engineers come from, but not just from this faculty than from all other higher education institutions, said Mr Aleksandar Gajić, member of the Supervisory Board at PE EPS during the interview made with our journalist in the pause of the conference. – In the last fifteen years numerous works on revitalisation of the facilities were done and they include increase the power, increase the level of efficiency of Units boilers, turbines and one of the most fascinating thing is that desire to repair as good as possible one, for current conditions, relative old system, especially the one old over 45 years at TPP NT A, and that gives a new hope that the same procedures can be performed in other part of out electric power system, said Mr
Aleksandar Gajić.

On the second day of the Conference “Energy 2015” two more articles made by specialists from TPP NT were presented. Mr Ivan Ristić in the name of group of authors presented the article “Modernisation of measuring control system of auxiliary boiler facility at TPP NT B”. The other members of this group of authors were Mr Bogoljub Radojičić, Ms Irina Jovanović, Ms Zorana Đurđević, Mr Mladen Radivojević and Mr Petar Tatomirović. According to Mr Ivan Ristić, project for technical solution of replacing control system has been presented in this article. Effects of modernisation, benefits and improvements gain with installation of this new measuring control system were also displayed in this article. He emphasises that with implementation of this new control system, operation reliability of this auxiliary boiler facility has been gained and that also means that the Unit will start up more quickly and steady. With this new control system, these auxiliary boiler facilities were several times more successful feed the Unit by steam during unit start up. Mr Ivan Ristić also said that prerequisite for more quality regulation and response of all functional groups have been created by change of control elements, measuring control equipment in the field as well as adding the new one.

An article entitled “Preposition for regulation improvement of number of revolutions of turbine feedwater pump”, which has been signed by group of authors Mr Nebojša Turnić, Mr Nikola Novaković, Mr Dalibor Filimonović – TPP NT B and Mr Aleksandar Lationović – PE EPS, was presented by Mr Petar Tatomirović (TPP NT B) who is also a member of this group. He said that, in this article has been presented possibility of improving the algorithm of regulation of number of revolution at turbine feedwater pump, actually, solution which contains two independent regulation structures. This article is based on mathematical model of turbine feedwater pump, and during simulations it was shown that improved regulation principle provides more quality and more stable response of turbine feedwater pump, especially in the modes of unloading the main turbine at the unit, and therefore possibility that under abruptly change of system parameters thermo-energy unit stay in operation is increased. Responses of suggested algorithms of system regulation at turbine feedwater pump in typical operational conditions were shown. Mr Petar Tatomirović presented this and he added that system simulation was performed at the Unit B1 at TPP NT B in Obrenovac.

Assessing former work during this year scientific – professional conference, Mr Đorđi Biljanovski, moderator of yesterday the second afternoon session said that this conference is on the level of previous conferences, maybe there are less number of participants, but there are greater spectrum of subjects which have been presented and which are directly and indirectly interesting and connected with energy itself, actually with thermo energy.
