Destroyed more than 362 kilogramme of narcotics
Today in Power plant “Nikola Tesla” A (TPP NT A) in Obrenovac has been destroyed more than 362 kilogramme of narcotics and other psychoactive controlled substances (PCS), which value in the street has been estimated at RSD 870 million, that is € 7.5 million.
For destruction of narcotics, decisions and directives were issued by relevant the Superior Court in Belgrade and Special Department of the Superior Court in Belgrade.
PCS which were stored in the Criminal Force Directorate in the Headquarters of the Ministry of Inferior were destroyed.
It is about destroying residual amount of narcotics and other PCS which at some police directorates have not been destroyed from 1995. Current destroying of these narcotics shows a huge determination of the country and the government at the fight against illegal narcotics trade.
We are talking about following types and quantities of PCS: heroin (53 kilogramme and 881 gram) and marijuana (308 kilogramme and 262 gram). There was total amount of 362 kilogramme and 43 gram of narcotics.
Transport from stored place to place of narcotics destruction, as the procedure of destroying itself, were ensured by Forces of the Ministry of Inferior of Republic of Serbia – the Criminal Force Directorate and Police Directorate for Belgrade.
During destroying the narcotics there were representatives from the Government Committee of Serbia for following the action of destroying psychoactive controlled substances, the president of the Government Committee for psychoactive controlled substances, than representatives of the Superior Court in Belgrade, as well as representatives from TPP NT due to procedure transparency.
Following the procedure, as well as providing the expertise were done by the reference laboratory for testing psychoactive controlled substances of Republic of Serbia in accordance with Regulation.
Destroying the narcotics and other PCS is one of the main problems in Republic of Serbia because narcotics have been stored in inadequate conditions in organisational units of the Ministry of Inferior of Republic of Serbia and Police Directorates and usually the narcotics are stored in offices. That kind of storing is not adequate; it has influence on health and safety of the police officers.
The procedure of destroying the psychoactive controlled substances will also be conducted continually in following period.
